Tired, anxious, or overwhelmed?

It’s true that some people do not know they are stressed and close to burn out. Sounds odd right? And yet, particularly at this time of year, heading towards Christmas, many of the clients I see have put their own needs to the bottom of a very long list. I see people who are often exhausted and overwhelmed with work, family responsibilities, shopping  and preparation for extra get togethers.

Many people are often surprised that when we go through their issues such as insomnia, anxiety, panic symptoms that they start to understand that they  are experiencing stress on a massive level.

  • Overwhelmed?

Overwhelm: flooding the brain with too much information to one time can lead to feelings of anxiety and/or panic.

When this happens, we might go into ‘shut down ‘ mode and refuse to respond at all!  There will be occasions when your brain has too much to process. It can also feel chaotic or like you can’t cope.

Remedy:

As I often say; sometimes ‘done’ is better than perfect. ✅

If you start to notice your brain is feeling chaotic, stop processing stuff. Breathe. Reconnect with your immediate surroundings by naming three things you can see, three things you can touch and three things you are feeling.  Take a walk if you can or open a windows to get some fresh air.

Remember your  brain benefits from  time ‘offline’ too otherwise  it can get ‘saturated’. Sometimes stepping back for a short time to take a breath & rest is the best thing you can do.

Hypnotherapy supports inner change and healing of trauma, old wounds and helps to clear old patterns.

Hypnotherapy benefits my clients by giving them the space and time they need to switch off and clear away unhelpful stress.   Just having time to reconnect with yourself is important to reducing stress.

  • Feeling anxious every day?

This is a common thing that many clients tell me they feel. They often say that they have tried to just ignore how they feel because they are too busy. Anxiety can present in many ways from sleeplessness/insomnia, stomach ache, migraines, foggy brain, whirring thoughts to other aches and pains and fatigue. Anxiety is often a future worry about things that might go wrong and whether we will cope.

Remedy

When you notice physical symptoms which feel different, please do not ignore them, and push on through. There are days when you need to be selfish and save your energy. Do not ever apologise for doing this. It’s ok to say ‘no’ to people, situations and events that may demand too much of your time. Often people feel anxious about saying ‘no’ to things and this can raise cortisol levels which in turn raises stress levels. Hypnotherapy teachers people how to reduce anxiety quickly by recognising signs  and using easy strategies to feel calm and confident throughout the day.  Hypnotherapy helps the brain to identify the small stuff and filter out the negative chatter that holds us back.

  • Fatigue?

This is more than just being tired: you may not want to get out of bed, feel incapable of dealing with everyday things or find it nearly impossible to focus on work or stuff you need to do. Fatigue can mean that you have run out of all energy reserves; it’s  a red flag regarding your mental and physical wellbeing.

Remedy

Don’t keep pushing yourself. Time to step back and reconsider what is a priority and what you can delegate. If you have fatigue, you just need to rest because this is an investment in your personal wellbeing. Many clients say they feel ‘guilty’ about resting or stepping back. Hypnotherapy helps people to recognise how important it is to take time for themselves without the guilt.   Hypnotherapy can help you find your ability to tap into your inner resources to rejuvenate & recalibrate.

You see hypnotherapy isn’t just about convincing your brain to do different stuff it’s about supporting your mind and body to recalibrate. Hypnotherapy helps people to slow down thoughts and notice feelings beneath these thoughts. Hypnotherapy helps release unwanted patterns of behaviour that may have been learned over years. Hypnotherapy teaches you how to step back, breathe and find your inner calm.
