I have lived in Teesside for over 40 years – for most of my adult life I worked as a teacher; I loved my job. I thought I would be in teaching until I retired, then a stressful life changing event led me to resign my post as Head of Department and follow my heart to help people feel better quickly, with hypnotherapy.
In 2012 I had an experience which caused me so much stress and anxiety, I decided to leave my full time Head of Department teaching role. At that point, I had been teaching for over 15 years. I thought my career was over.
I thought I would stressed and anxious forever. I did not want counselling – I was too embarrassed to talk about the fact that my life had ‘crashed’ around me. I felt ashamed and vulnerable that I had become a fearful person instead of the confident career professional I had once been. I felt helpless, hopeless and overwhelmed with my thoughts; my relationship and family life started to suffer and so did my self-esteem.
Eventually, I decided that I had to do something; I just wasn’t sure where to start or how to say what I needed; I didn’t really know how to explain what was wrong, I just knew I had to feel better quickly.
A chance encounter with a good friend was the turning point for me, I knew she had been suffering with post- traumatic stress disorder and had been going through a tough time. So you can imagine I was surprised to see she was positively glowing and shining with confidence. I asked her what had happened to make her this way. She told me she had been for hypnotherapy sessions with a lovely therapist who helped her feel better quickly. She said she the sessions made her feel so relaxed, like her old self again but better – she couldn’t put her finger on why but she was glad she had gone for hypnotherapy as it was such a simple solution .
Later that week, I booked my hypnotherapy sessions and the change was immediate. I felt lighter and much clearer in my own mind than I had in years – it was as if all that toxic stress had just melted away, I also learned some really useful techniques and strategies to manage my anxiety. I was just so happy to feel better so quickly; I decided that I would retrain and help other people feel better too.
Today, I run a hypnotherapy and coaching practice in Guisborough, I also run sessions over Skype. I help lots of people with their stress and anxiety to feel better quickly, I also help people with other stressful life problems including issues that just don’t to fit into a nice neat category!
